It all starts here: understanding the basis of every product we make. The material defines value, production possibilities and design decisions of Lyssier objects. Sourcing requires specific knowledge of particular qualities, composition, and requirements.

Each object starts with an idea, expressed in a sketch. Its form is then tested through handmade models to find the final shape and proportions. Always with care for the material and in close exchange with skilled craftsmen and production processes.

A 1:1 and 5:1 scale helps to define every corner, diameter and rounding. A three-dimensional technical CAD drawing is necessary to fully understand how the product is constructed and how it functions. It forms the basis for further physical prototypes.
CAD/CAM ready for precision manufacturing
Each 3 mm thick element is abrasive waterjet cut with a precision of ±0.1 mm to ensure a perfect fit. This allows the two parts to be joined by hand, without tools, without jamming, and without wobbling. Production takes place in an Austrian family-owned business.

Depending on the finish: tumbled for a matte uniform surface, or polished to mirror grade (No. 8). The finishing step takes longest. It is also the most visible.

The packaging is made in Krefeld by a family-owned business from smooth bookbinder board (Graupappe). Three parts: inner box, outer sleeve, ribbon. Each unit is checked in Krefeld before it is packed.
